Reflecting on 38 Sensational Years

On April 1st, we celebrated the 38th anniversary since the formation of Sensory Spectrum Incorporated, a remarkable milestone. Reflecting on our journey, it's awe-inspiring to see how far we've come. What began 38 years ago as a one-woman endeavor, operating out of Gail Vance Civille’s house, has grown into a thriving enterprise with over 180 team members across 6 locations, and remote staff scattered across the country. Our success is a testament to the dedication, brilliance, and creativity of our diverse team, whose passion has propelled Sensory Spectrum forward.

A cake with many birthday candles.

Over the past 38 years, we've evolved from a niche focus on descriptive analysis and training to a comprehensive, full-service firm. Presently, we operate nine descriptive panels across both our facilities and our clients' facilities. Our Consumer Understanding group offers robust support for a wide range of consumer research. Meanwhile, our Training and Education department continuously develops on-demand and in-person courses covering a range of sensory topics. Additionally, our Managed Services team partners with clients, providing sensory and consumer research on a contractual basis, with dedicated teams assigned to each client, addressing their unique requirements. The Sensory Evaluation Techniques text, soon to be released as the 6th edition, has educated thousands of sensory professionals.

Our journey has been marked by growth and innovation, and we take immense pride in the contributions we've made to our industry. None of this would have been possible without the invaluable partnerships we’ve cultivated over the years. We've had the privilege of collaborating with a multitude of exceptional organizations, both large and small. To all our partners, past and present, we extend our deepest gratitude for the opportunity to be part of this remarkable community.

As we celebrate 38 sensational years in the industry, Sensory Spectrum reaffirms its commitment to promoting the value of sensory evaluation. We remain steadfast in our mission to drive excellence in sensory research and consumer understanding, and we eagerly anticipate the journey ahead.

Thank you for being a part of our story.
